りりぃの杜があるのは、標高300mほどの、山の麓のゆるやかな斜面です。地名は伏せていますが、どんな気候で育てているのかは、これから食べられる森のような場所をつくりたい方の参考になればと思い、まとめておきます。
気候（観測されている事実）
- 冬：氷点下まで下がりますが、多くは-1〜-5℃ほど。最も寒い日で-8℃まで下がることがありますが、連続せず、年に1〜2回程度です。この冬の寒さの傾向は、1980年代から近年まで、大きく変わっていません。
- 霜：11月中旬から3月ごろまで。
- 雪：年に数回降る程度で、積もることはほとんどありません。
- 夏：近年、猛暑が増えています。35℃以上の日は、1990年代は8月に5回前後でしたが、2025年は18回にのぼりました。
- 降水：年間降水量は全国平均より少なく、乾燥しやすい地域です。
植物の生育にとって、いちばん効いてくるのは冬の寒さです。ここは、極端には寒くならないけれど、確かに氷点下になる土地。耐寒性の目安として、おおよそ USDAハーディネスゾーン8 にあたります（海外の方は、ご自分の地域と比べてみてください）。
私の考えていること
冬の寒さは、この40年ほど大きく変わっていない一方で、夏の暑さは、私が見るかぎり明らかに増しています。人の活動が生む熱の影響もあるのではないか、と感じています。今後の長い気候の行方はわかりませんが、この「乾燥しやすく、夏は年々暑くなる」という条件の中で、自然農や自然栽培と呼ばれる、無肥料・無農薬の育て方で試行錯誤しながら楽しみ中。このサイトで不定期に更新しています。☺

About this land
Lily’s Mori sits on a gentle slope at the foot of a mountain, at about 300m above sea level, somewhere in Japan. I keep the exact location private, but I’m sharing the climate here, in case it helps anyone who wants to grow a forest of their own.
The climate (what the records show)

Winter: It drops below freezing, but usually stays around -1 to -5°C. On the coldest days it can reach -8°C, but only once or twice a year, never for long. This winter pattern has stayed about the same from the 1980s until now.

Snow: a few times a year; it rarely settles.

Summer: Heat is increasing. Days above 35°C numbered around 5 in August during the 1990s — in 2025, there were 18.

What I think
Winter cold here has changed little over 40 years, but summers are clearly getting hotter — I suspect human-made heat plays a part. I can’t predict where the climate is heading. But for now, I’m happily figuring it out as I go, growing a food forest here with no fertilizer and no chemicals — a Japanese approach known as shizen-nōhō (natural farming) — treating neither weeds nor insects as enemies, and posting whenever I can. ☺
